All Hallows' Eve is the first day of the three-day commemoration (All Hallowtide): All Hallows' Eve (October 31st), All Saints' Day (November 1st), and All Souls' Day (November 2nd). In modern times, All Hallows' Eve (Halloween) focuses on trick-or-treating, costumes, horror, gore, and haunted attractions. Muddy Waters Botanica focuses on traditional customs. Our cultural and religious customs include the observance of attending vigils, fellowship, praying for lost souls, commemorating our deceased love ones, lighting candles, and consuming food and drink that is favored by our ancestors. On this day we visit the resting places of our loved ones at cemeteries in and around New Orleans, Louisiana.
